SEND

WHAT IS AN SEN-D LOCAL OFFER?

The purpose of a local offer is to inform parents/carers of the provision available to support children with special educational needs and/or a disability (SEN-D).

Norfolk’s Local offer for SEND can be found at this web address

www.norfolk.gov.uk/children-and-families/send-local-offer

At Dussindale Primary School we are committed to working in close collaboration with parents in order to achieve successful outcomes for all children. Children are individuals, and they don’t all learn at the same pace. All can thrive and learn successfully at Dussindale. Children with SEN-D will benefit from our curriculum, which is active, practical, imaginative, collaborative and inclusive.

This local offer should be read in conjunction with our SEN-D policy; Equalities Scheme and Accessibility Plan, which can be found on our school website – www.dussindaleprimary.co.uk – or a copy can be requested via the school office.

Access for pupils or community users with disabilities

As our school is a  relatively new building, it has been designed and built to be fully accessible. All external doors are accessible, and we are provided with plenty of access toilets, as well as a lift to the first floor. There is a hearing loop integrated into the hall floor, and we are planning to acquire a portable hearing loop for other rooms should the need arise. Our Accessibility Plan and Disability Equality Scheme are available for anyone to read, and we welcome any suggestions about how we can improve our provision for anyone in the school community.

If you have any questions about Special Educational Needs or inclusion, you can contact (via the school office) either:

Sarah Dorling (SENCO)
