Anti-Bullying Week 2018 - Choose Respect
Do you recognise these socks? Today is 'Odd Socks Day'!
This week we are taking part in Anti-bullying Week 2018. We have started the week with an assembly to explain the reason for Odd Socks Day. Odd Socks Day helps to show that everyone is different but we are all equal and we believe it’s so important to make sure that we are all able to be ourselves.
The theme for this week is 'Choose Respect' and classes will be exploring this throughout the week in different ways.
We looked at a definition of respect:
to ‘have due regard for (someone’s feelings, wishes, or rights)’
In everyday life we can CHOOSE to be rude or show people with respect.
If we choose the rude way then we will make people feel... sad, unhappy, alone etc. But if we choose kindness and respect we can make people feel like they belong and happy in school.
We talked about how an act of respect does not have to be a big thing. It could be an ‘unseen’ act of kindness that helps someone and shows respect.
The children have been asked to pledge a way that they can show respect for others within the school and wider community. We will make a sock-themed display to share their ideas with others.
