Maths - Finding the difference

We have been looking at subtraction in terms of 'difference'.  For example to find the answer to "6 - 4 =" we can look at the difference between the two numbers - 2!  This is useful when dealing with large numbers that are close together.  Certainly, if you had "56 - 51 =" it would be inefficient to count back 51.  Instead you can find the difference between them - 5!  To understand this we began by using multilink - making the two numbers and putting them side by side which helped us to see the difference between them...
